Mum's life

Jean Katrina Aughton Jean Katrina Aughton, a wife, sister, sister in law, auntie and best friend. Most importantly to Gary & me just Mum!! As you heard before Mum and Dad met & fell in love in 1970, married in 1974, had me in 1978 and Gary in 1983. As a family we enjoyed numerous days out especially bowling, which Dad was always good at & always beat us. You could often hear mum telling dad to let the kids win. The competitiveness of those early days still lives on in Gary & I even now. You don’t want to go bowling with us. What can I say that you don’t already know? Most of you know the relationship we had, She was our mum but most importantly to Gary & I our best friend. She was there for us night & day no matter what. She was our biggest critic but also our biggest fan. I know she was immensely proud of Gary for completing his building NVQ at Hugh Baird College & of me for being the first member of our family to complete university. She was also proud of us for the choices we made in our partners & friends, Gary with Mel and Me with Ellie. Whilst we were a huge part of her life, she had plenty of time for other things. This included line dancing which she loved to practise round the house which amused Gary & I greatly, encouraging her to do it even more! Bingo was also one of her other passions, to which she encouraged Gary, I & close friends to attend with her. Although often she ribbed us that she never won when we were around. My lasting memory of mum will be that she was a fighter! If her life meant nothing else it was to prove to everyone whose lives she touched that they were never to give up. Dad, Gary & I are all so thankful for the Love & Support shown by each of you here today. You all made mum’s life so rich & so full in some many different ways. Finally I would like to say, Rest in Peace Mum, we’re FINE.
